senseFly Corridor announced

senseFly Corridor includes: 

A camera integration kit, which houses the senseFly S.O.D.A. in a longitudinal (portrait) position, and a new corridor mapping ‘mission block’ within senseFly’s eMotion 3 ground station software (forthcoming release 3.3, due end of May). 502-54-01 EB integration kit for senseFly S.O.D.A. Corridor


senseFly Corridor is compatible with any eBee Plus or eBee RTK drone that carries a senseFly S.O.D.A. camera.

senseFly Corridor could also be used for corridor work by standard eBee users with a senseFly S.O.D.A. camera, however this use makes little sense, since georeferencing is a challenge with corridor mapping and without RTK on-board such eBee users would be faced with a huge amount of work setting ground control points along their corridor. However, eBee standard users can enjoy very high resolution benefits when using senseFly Corridor hardware for horizontal mapping (see benefit 1 below).

3 main senseFly Corridor benefits: 

1. Better ground resolutions
A vertical camera position allows operators to fly the eBee Plus closer to the ground, while still achieving the image overlaps their digital outputs require. The result of flying lower is better ground resolutions, of down to 1.5 cm (or 0.6 inches) per pixel.

Note: this resolution improvement also applies to using the senseFly Corridor for horizontal mapping projects. This would be a possible beneficial application for eBee standard users. 

2. Fewer images = shorter processing times
Compared to using a normal, landscape-position drone camera, senseFly Corridor can map the same linear route using 30%1 fewer images. This means 30% shorter image processing times after a flight.

3. Makes corridor mapping easy
eMotion 3’s Corridor Mapping mission block makes linear mapping jobs easier than with any other solution: simply load a KML, shape file or background map, define your target corridor (clicking once each time the route changes direction) and specify the corridor width and ground resolution you require.

Example calculation: 4 km (2.5 mi) x 50 m (164 ft) corridor, GSD 2.3 cm/pix, 70%/70% image overlap. senseFly S.O.D.A. horizontal position: 538 images. senseFly S.O.D.A. Corridor: 374 images.
